Over the last few years, the central-eastern province of Ciego de Ávila has distinguished itself for the vigorous tourist development of its northern cay chain. In this fertile and predominantly flat territory, sugar production and the cultivation of citrus fruit and other crops play a significant economic role.
To the north, you will find the archipelago known as Jardines del Rey, as Spanish governor Diego Velázquez baptized, in 1514, this group of islets of singular beauty, among them Cayo Guillermo and Cayo Coco, with beaches of white sand and transparent waters.
